Frank:

I forwarded this to Lisa Gaxiola Davis, It Director at Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo who uses second opinion software out of their El Centro site…Maybe she has some insight . . . . . Clinicas is about the only site we have down here doing store and forward…

Hi guys,

I understand that un-managed (i.e. not blue Cross) Medi-cal still won’t pay the dermatologists for their store and forward readings! What can we do?

This is a problem as it could cripple the program.

FYI, as a community (MODC, NCC, Eureka internal, Eureka family, Olkin & Jones, Redwood family practice)   we have sent 100 referrals in the last 12 months for Dermatology consults using Han Pak’s software system, with NCC sending 62 of them, and MODC sending 8. Redwood family is the second highest user with 21 referrals..

Also, we send an avg. of 10-15 referrals per month from TVSC and DNCHC using the Second Opinion software, and HODC has started sending images as well.

The great majority of these are Medi-cal patients.

Thought you should know,
