CTEC Rural Telemedicine Network Sites
Receive UnitedHealth Group/PacifiCare Grants
(1/17/08) CTEC sends our congratulations to two of our rural network partner sites who are recipients of UnitedHealth Group and PacifiCare grants!
Ridgecrest Regional Hospital received $500,000 toexpand telehealth and telemedicine capabilities to additional rural care providers.
Shasta Community Health Center in Redding received $200,000 to complete the implementation of its Electronic Medical Record system.

UnitedHealth Group/PacifiCare Announces More Than $6 Million
In Grants To Improve Health Care
(1/17/08) UnitedHealth Group and PacifiCare announced today the award of over $6 million in grants to California nonprofits aimed at improving health care through health technology, preventive health and coordination of care initiatives.
15 grants were awarded, ranging in amount from $100,000 to $740,000. Grant recipients announced today include:
Alliance for Rural Community Health, Ukiah ($360,000) to implement an electronic health records system

Centro La Familia Advocacy Services Inc., Fresno ($100,000) to expand community health outreach activities via its Promotora program

Children’s Health Initiative of Orange County ($350,000) to implement a Web-based application and tracking system for children’s health programs and other services

Darin M. Camarena Health Centers Inc., Madera ($367,250) to purchase computer equipment that will enhance information management
-
Glendale Adventist Medical Center ($664,688) to implement a rural telepharmacy project
-
Glenn Medical Center, Willows ($187,000) for equipment to allow digital recording and transmission of diagnostic studies

Institute for Healthcare Advancement, La Habra ($360,000) to implement electronic medical record and practice management systems

Northridge Hospital Foundation ($593,720) to expand its school-based obesity and diabetes prevention program

Planned Parenthood Mar Monte/Fresno ($740,000) to establish a response center serving a 27-county area using IP Telephony

Redwood MedNet, Ukiah ($361,684) to establish a network allowing clinics and hospitals to share patient and medical information

Ridgecrest Regional Hospital ($500,000) to expand telemedicine to additional rural providers

Shasta Community Health Center, Redding ($200,000) to implement an electronic health records system

Tri City Health Center, Fremont ($159,155) to upgrade its telephone system to improve its ability to serve its diverse patient population

Vista Community Clinic ($705,184) to implement an electronic health records system

University of California San Diego Department of Emergency Medicine ($731,070) to develop the San Diego Safety Net Health Information Exchange
CTEC would like to congratulate these awardees! These grants represent the first round of proposal applications, which were due in Fall 2007. The second round will end February 18th.
