Grant to assist Visiting Nurse Service’s telemedicine program
Rochester Business Journal

The VNS telemedicine initiative monitors patients’ vital signs and symptoms using in-home equipment. Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service, MVP Health Care and the Anthony L. Jordon Health Center are partners in the project.

Through the telemedicine effort, VNS expects to monitor 1,500 patients with conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that put them at high risk for hospitalization. By cutting the need for such patients to make emergency department visits or to be hospitalized, the two-year project hopes to generate savings of more than $3 million.
